More about the stone

Crystallisation: monoclinic system

Family: carbonates

Colours: intense green with linear or “eye” patterns caused by its layered structure; in raw form, it also occurs with a mammillary or acicular habit

Chakra: 4th – heart chakra, to be used at the base of the sternum

Soul: Malachite allows the soul's journey to resume after being blocked by too much pain experienced in isolated despair.

Subconscious: Releases the mechanism that represses memories and forgotten pain, allowing things to be put in order.

Mental sphere: Helps understand the reality of events, the connections between episodes and your reactions to what happened. It stimulates the mind to process pain through greater awareness of your own and others' roles in events, strengthening observation, analysis and critical thinking.

Emotional sphere: Brings back suffering that has not been overcome and has become an emotional block. By burying this pain deep within, we allow it to continue influencing our lives. Malachite encourages us to face it, resolve what remains unfinished, free ourselves and live fully again.

Body: Has an antispasmodic action (excellent for menstrual pain and making childbirth easier); helps resolve sexual difficulties linked to past trauma; stimulates liver function.

Cleansing and Recharging: Hold under a gentle stream of running water for a few minutes, then dry thoroughly, removing absorbed moisture by placing it in the sun or on a lukewarm radiator for a few minutes. Alternatively, use Reiki, the violet flame or rest it on an amethyst or clear quartz cluster. Sunlight (no direct sunlight) and moonlight baths restore its vitality. When malachite has given up all its energetic potential, it will become fragile and break. At that point, it should be returned to nature by releasing it into the sea or a watercourse.

Use: Carry it with you (in a pocket or a natural-fibre pouch worn around the neck); wear it set in necklaces, bracelets or pendants; sleep with it inside your pillowcase. Excellent for meditation and Reiki treatments; an essential mineral in crystal healing treatments.
