Further stone details
Crystal system: Trigonal.
Family: Quartz.
Colours: Orange, sometimes banded.
Chakra: Second, sacral centre.

Soul: Carnelian grounds physical energies and reveals the essence of the physical plane. It encourages stability and idealism.

Subconscious: Instils the courage needed to face daily life.

Mental sphere: Provides the pragmatism needed to solve problems and finish what you have started.

Emotional sphere: Makes emotions clearer and more distinct. Allows both pleasurable and painful sensations to be experienced with the confidence that they can be faced without losing emotional self-control.

Body: Carnelian improves blood quality, stimulating the small intestine, metabolism and circulatory system. Effective against cystitis and problems affecting the uterus, prostate, bladder and kidneys.

Other features: As a mineral, its effect becomes apparent over time, working slowly but incisively, so it should be used for long periods. As an elixir, its effect is very strong.

Cleansing and recharging: Immerse in cold salt water, even for a few hours. Alternatives include Reiki, the violet flame or resting on an amethyst or clear quartz cluster. Sunlight without direct exposure and moonlight regenerate its vitality. When carnelian has released all its energetic potential, it becomes fragile and breaks; at that point, it should be returned to nature by releasing it into the sea or a watercourse.

Use: Carry it in your pocket or in a natural-fibre pouch around your neck, or wear it mounted in necklaces, bracelets or pendants. Sleeping with it is not recommended, as it brings vitality and may prevent the relaxation needed to fall asleep. Excellent during meditation and Reiki treatments. It can be attached to the skin with a plaster over the second chakra. A fundamental mineral in crystal therapy.
