Palo Santo (Bursera gravelolens), literally “sacred wood”, is a tree that grows in the Amazon rainforests of Ecuador and Peru. It belongs to the same family as copal, myrrh and frankincense. Its wood, leaves and oil have been used for thousands of years by Indigenous shamans to heal body and soul, cleanse spaces, eliminate negative energies and prepare for meditation and purification.

It is also used as a mosquito repellent, to cleanse the home, counter lingering odours and, last but not least, promote meditation and relaxation.

The sticks are made using the masala technique, in which incense is handcrafted according to ancient tradition by blending wood and plant powders, such as resins, herbs, roots and bark, flowers, essential oils and honey. This precious mixture is then rolled onto bamboo sticks and dried in the shade.
